Organized practice cancelled now today

Hello,

So, the JV meet today was cancelled...not postponed, cancelled not to be rescheduled.  And now we have decided to cancel organized practice as well.

The gym is already in use until 6pm and there is an art event in half of the gym, so we would be stuck with 80+ kids in half of a gym to practice at night the day before a meet, unless we want to run out in the rain and 40-degree weather.

I am asking athletes to get a workout in on their own today.  For athletes competing tomorrow, please don't overdo it.

Here are some rough plans for the workout today on your own:
Distance workout - Active Warmup, Stretch, 30-40 minute easy run, 4x100m strides
Sprints workout - Active Warmup, Stretch, Sprint Warmup, 20 minute easy jog, 4x100m strides

We will see you at St. Thomas Academy for the meet tomorrow.

We were informed this morning that the JV meet for the Catholic School Championships on Thursday at St. Thomas Academy is cancelled because of the rain and cold.

We will have practice at Trinity from 5:30-7:00pm today instead.

Meet: Spectrum Meet at Columbia Heights High School
Date: Thursday, April 7th, 2016
Place: Columbia Heights High School - 1400 49th Avenue NE, Columbia Heights, MN 55421
Time: Athletes should leave Trinity no later than 3:10pm to arrive at Columbia Heights HS by 3:45pm. First events start at 4:00pm.  Approximate meet end time = 7:00-7:30pm
Schools Participating: Columbia Heights, St. Croix Prep, Spectrum and Trinity
Directions:
- take 35E North from Trinity (however you think is fastest to 35E) to 694 West
- 694 West to Silver Lake Road NW (exit 39) and go south (left)
- Silver Lake Road NW to 5th Street NW and go right (west)
- 5th Street NW one block to Stinson Blvd and go left (south)
- Stinson Blvd one block to Fariview Drive NE and go right (west), which turns into 49th Avenue NE
- after a few blocks on 49th Avenue NE, you will see the high school and track on the left (south) side of the road

Under good traffic conditions it would be about 30 minutes.  At that time of day it might be 40 minutes, so it will be essential to leave as soon as possible immediately following school at 3pm.

Spike Rule: 1/4" pyramid spikes are allowed.

USC/AC Mankato Indoor Meet Information

Meet: Minnesota State-Mankato Indoor Meet - hosted by United South Central/Alden-Conger
Date: Saturday, April 2nd, 2016
Place: Minnesota State-Mankato University in Mankato (135 Myers Fieldhouse, Mankato, MN) - Myers Fieldhouse

Time: Athletes should be at Myers Fieldhouse at Minnesota State-Mankato no later than 1:15pm to setup camp and warmup for events that start at 2:00pm. Doors to the Myers Fieldhouse will be locked until 1:30pm, but we should gather outside the doors to bring our equipment in and setup camp at 1:30pm. Plan on the trip taking 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Mankato.  There is some road construction between Mankato and St. Peter on Hwy 169.
Schools Participating: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, Minnesota Valley Lutheran, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva, Tri-City United, Trinity and United South Central/Alden-Conger
Parking: Spectator parking is limited to Lot 1 southwest of the Myers Fieldhouse
